July 7 Meeting

Next Meeting July 7, 2016 at 7:PM
at Tillamook PUD be sure to come

This month’s meeting we will be discussing the Tillamook Fair and its staffing and theme.  Joe Jacobs has once again volunteered to Chair the Fair Committee.  Thank You Joe.
We will have a representative of Dr. Bobek’s campaign staff here to talk to you about getting out the vote in north Tillamook County as Dr. Bobek challenges Rep. Deborah Boone.
My campaign for House District 10 in south Tillamook and Lincoln Counties is still chugging along but I sure wish I could find an extra 8-10 hours a day to do it justice.  Any help would be appreciated.
We do have lawn signs and some magnetic signs as well as bumper stickers for our local candidates so let’s get them up and on our vehicles.  Make sure your individual municipalities’ rules concerning lawn signs are obeyed as to when you can put them up and when they have to be removed.
image004    I’m looking forward to seeing a good turnout this meeting as the Fair is our biggest opportunity to talk to our voters.  Let’s make it a great one.

March 3rd FaceBook Post

I posted the following on the Facebook page “Oregon: Tillamook County Republicans” on March 3rd.

        Tom

I am the Chairman of the Tillamook County Republican Central Committee. This Facebook page “Oregon: Tillamook County Republicans” has not been authorized by the official political action committee TCRCC.

It has come to my attention that there have been several posts on this page that are critical to individual Republican candidates. The TCRCC, as a PAC did not make those remarks.

I realize that many voters both Conservative and Liberal are frustrated & just plain mad with our state and federal governments. However, it behooves us as Conservatives to keep our opinions civil.  To paraphrase former President Ronald Reagan, “let’s not criticize our fellow Republicans”.

Yes, the times are tremulous! Yes, our country is in danger! Yes, we’re mad & upset with the government! But now is the time to keep our wits about us and take the high road utilizing the wise principles taught us early in life.

As I mentioned in my latest newsletter: “It doesn’t matter if your opinions lean Moderate, Tea Party, Fiscal/Social or Libertarian. We are all Conservative Republicans; we need to put minor differences between us aside and work together as a CONSERVATIVE TEAM!!

Next Meeting March 3, 2016

Tillamook County Conservatives:

Till.Co.Conseratives_ The next meeting of the Tillamook County Republican Central Committee will GOP2be Thursday, March 3rd (tonight) at the Tillamook PUD Building Carl Rawe meeting room (just inside the rear door) located at 1115 Pacific Avenue (Hwy 101 North) in Tillamook.  The business meeting will start at 7PM.  Light refreshments will be provided by the Chair.

Mark CollshanWe will have several guests including Mr. Mark Callahan (www.callihanfororegon.com) candidate for the US Senate seat held by Oregon’s New York Senator Ron Wyden, as well as representatives from the Lincoln County Republican Central Committee.  There may be other guest candidates visiting that I haven’t confirmed at this time.

We’ll also be discussing an invitation from the Marion County Committee to participate in a live-stream debate throughout Congressional District 5 for the Republican nomination for Oregon State Treasurer; more details at the meeting.

It’s also time to consider fund raising efforts to support our candidates this fall.  Don’t forget the Dorchester Conference is also coming up later this month.

This is always an exciting time for our Committee, visiting with candidate guests and helping them win their elections.  This is also a VERY important time of DUTY for PCPs & volunteers.  You are the grassroots of the Republican Party.  It doesn’t matter if your opinions lean Moderate, Tea Party, Fiscal/Social or Libertarian.  We are all Conservative Republicans; we need to put minor differences between us aside and work together as a CONSERVATIVE TEAM!!

You all know the stakes in the upcoming elections.  The results of not working hard enough to get our message to the voters the last few election cycles are as evident as the screen on your TV set, computer or front page of your newspaper.  Elections have consequences!  We need to commit and work harder than we ever have before.  WE MUST WIN, OR LOSE OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC FORM OF GOVERNMENT!  THERE IS NO BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME.  OUR COUNTRY IS AT STAKE NOW!

HB 4036A Clean Electricity and Coal Transition bill

Tillamook County Conservatives:

This legislation (HB 4036A) takes away the Public Utility Commission’s ability to regulate private utilities.  The PUC was designed to make sure energy monopolies don’t overcharge the rate-payers (us).  They are the only defense we have against utilities that are driven by profit & overcharging the public.  There’s nothing wrong about a business making a profit but gouging the public isn’t fair when competition doesn’t exist.  By law, the utilities are allowed to make a 10% profit after normal costs are accounted for.  The PUD determines what the “normal costs” are and allows an increase or decrease in rates as appropriate.  This bill takes the PUC out of the equation & basically dismisses about 6 recent rulings against the private utilities.  This is a very bad bill.  I urge you to get on the phone to you’re your Senator (Betsy Johnson north county & Arney Roblan south county) and let them know your opinion.  An E-mail will also work but the spoken word does carry more conviction.  As always, be polite.

SUMMARY: Directs PUC to develop renewable standards eliminating coal and increase renewable power to double that required by the Oregon Renewable Portfolio Standards.

PERSONAL CHOICE: Utilities can usually pass prudently incurred costs to ratepayers limiting them to a 10% profit. This bill has significant incentives to build solar and wind powered generation capacity without
