State Representative

As per our conversation this afternoon, I will file as a candidate for State Representative District 10 opposing Representative David Gomberg this weekend.

Thomas M. Donohue

I’m a native Oregonian born on the day General Douglas MacArthur invaded Inchon Harbor Korea, September 15, 1950.  I became a Republican when Ronald Regan first ran for President, noting his common sense principles of smaller government, a strong military, personal and fiscal responsibility.

I’ve lived in Tillamook County since 1980.  I currently work for the Oregon State Lottery since 1992 as a technical analyst (Technical Support Specialist).  I served in the Oregon Army National Guard from 1970 to 1978.  Prior to working for the Lottery, I was a doryman commercial salmon fisher, fishing coastal ports from Warrenton to Brookings.  I’m proud to claim a long time Directorship of the Pacific City Dorymen’s Association in which I Chaired its Memorial Wall Committee creating a 30 ton memorial monument at Cape Kiwanda in 2009.  I’ve also Chaired the Pacific City Planning Advisory Committee, and currently serve as a Director of the Nestucca Valley Community Alliance with the goal of creating a community park, skating facility as well as an interpretive center.

I’m a Precinct Committee Person as well as the Chairman of the Tillamook County Republican Central Committee for the last 6 years.  As a former candidate for Tillamook County Commissioner and long time resident of Tillamook County, I’ve been fortunate to be exposed to the financial, educational, infrastructure and social needs of our coastal communities, the unique agricultural farming traditions in District 10, tourist industry concerns, as well as the natural resource access needs of our logging industry.

I firmly believe that the Constitutions of Oregon and the United States are the laws that form the bedrock of our society and are not to be considered fluid or malleable to the times.  I’m especially cognizant of the utmost importance of the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution as the protector of ALL, of our INDIVIDUAL, not collective rights granted to us by God Almighty.

I’ve been considerably distressed at the course our state has digressed into the last 25 years with little or no accountability from our liberal executive and liberal legislative leaders.  Our current District 10 Representative exemplifies the progressive bigger government ideology that is severely hampering the small business communities that provide most of the jobs in District 10.

It’s time to bring Oregon forward into the future with the same pioneer spirit that made her great when she became a state on February 14, 1859; the jewel of the western United States.  We were, and we will be again, an innovative, successful society with a robust business environment in concert with an abiding respect for our beautiful coastal, valley, desert and mountain vistas.

It is with humble honor that I offer myself as a smaller government fiscal & social Conservative candidate for Oregon’s House of Representatives in District 10.
